The study of chemistry is considered one of the most important sciences and is a fundamental subject in school curricula.
An essential tool for studying chemistry is the Periodic Table. Traditionally, learning materials have been presented in a static manner, but an interactive approach has proven to be more effective, especially when engaging modern students who are familiar with technology.
Periodic Table is a free iPhone application that provides users with access to the complete Periodic Table right at their fingertips. The displayed table adheres to the long-form format approved by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Additionally, users can also access the Table of Solubility.
The PRO version of this application offers additional features compared to the FREE version, such as:
- More interactive tables
- Constant updates with new information on chemical elements
- Expanded information about additional elements
- Details on conductivity, electric type, magnetic type, bulk magnetic susceptibility, specific magnetic susceptibility, temperature superconductivity, color of the item, density, refractive index, coefficient of thermal conductivity, electronegativity, valence, radioactivity, half-life, molar volume, and more.
When clicking on any element in the Periodic Table, users can access continuously updated information about that particular element. For most items, there is also an accompanying image. Additionally, for further information on each element, direct links to Wikipedia are provided.
To facilitate navigation within the application, there is a search function available. The search engine is flexible and does not require specific search criteria or writing style.
In terms of organization, users have the option to sort items into ten categories:
- Alkaline earth metals
- Other nonmetals
- Alkali metals
- Halogens
- Transition metals
- Noble gases
- Semiconductor
- Lanthanides
- Metalloids
- Actinides
Elements from the selected category will be listed in the search results and are highlighted in the main application screen's table.
